Welcome Note
A message from Salma Ahmed Alam, the CEO of Durbeen

Durbeen is proud to host its first online conference titled, “Research Expo! 2024: Showcasing Innovation in Education.” Seven years ago, Durbeen was founded with the vision to transform teaching into a top-choice profession in Pakistan and to staff all government schools with a top-quality teaching workforce. With this goal in mind, Durbeen took over the management of the Government Elementary College of Education, Hussainabad in Karachi in 2019 and, over the past 5 years, we have transformed this into one of the leading teacher education institutions of Pakistan.

Research in education provides a systematic and evidence-based approach to understanding the dynamics of learning, effective teaching methods, and the multifaceted factors influencing educational environments. By engaging in research, educators gain valuable insights into the diverse needs of students, allowing for the development of tailored instructional strategies that cater to various learning styles and abilities. Moreover, the dissemination and application of research findings contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching methods and the evolution of educational policies.

Through this Research Expo, Durbeen is providing an online platform for researchers, students, and early career professionals in the field of education to share their research with the wider academic community. The theme of the conference “Showcasing Innovation in Education” will allow attendees to learn about recent innovations and best practices from a wide range of domains within the field. We hope that this opportunity will foster a research orientation amongst our educators and encourage our young professionals to engage in and produce high quality research.

I wish this conference success and hope that all participants walk away with actionable ideas to improve their respective institutions by the close of the expo.
