Mr. Khalid Mahmood

Khalid Mahmood is a 35year veteran of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry and has been Managing Director and CEO of Getz Pharma (Pvt) Limited (the largest pharmaceutical company in Pakistan), since its inception in 1995. Khalid currently serves on the board of the Zindagi Trust and the board of the Eqbal Ahmed Center for Public Education. He served as the President of the board of The World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan (WWFP) during 20132015 and was on its board member for six years. Khalid was awarded TamghaeImtiaz (Medal of Excellence) for his contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of Pakistan. He is a supporter of the preservation and development of music, theatre arts, and culture, and supports programs and initiatives in the areas of education, health, and sports for underprivileged communities.

Nazim Fidahussain Haji

Nazim is the Chairman of Alucan (Pvt) Limited as well as Alupak (Pvt) Limited, an Aluminum products business. He also serves on the governing body of Infaq Foundation, the Centre for Development of Social Services and is the Vice President of the Limbless Foundation Pakistan. He is also a Trustee of the Zindagi Trust and the Aitemaad Pakistan Trust. He is a co-Chairman of The Cancer Foundation and a Director of the Sahil Welfare Association. Nazim was also one of founding members of the Citizens – Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). He received the Sitar-e-Shujaat in 1993 for his efforts as the Chief of CPLC.

Ayesha Farid

Bee Gul is a Pakistani drama scriptwriter, famous for her dramas Talkhiyan, Zid, Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, and Raqeeb Se to name a few. She completed her Masters degree in English Literature at Kinnaird College for Women. In parallel, she is also serving as project manager of the Khan Academy Urdu project through which the Khan Academy videos are being translated into the Urdu language for use in Pakistan. She is actively involved in the creation of every video and is responsible for quality assurance for all academic content in the project.

Salma Ahmed Alam

Chief Executive Officer

Salma has been working in the public education sector of Sindh since 2008, first at the school level and then the government level, while consulting with the World Bank. She holds a Masters in Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and qualified as a primary school teacher from the National Institute of Education in Singapore in 2016.

Dr. Fauzia Shamim

Chief Academic Officer

Dr Fauzia Shamim is a former Professor and founder Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, Ziauddin University, Karachi, Pakistan. Earlier, she has worked as a teacher/researcher, and in leadership positions at various universities in the public and private sector in Pakistan and abroad.  These include: The Aga Khan University’s Institute of Educational Development, University of Karachi, Institute of Business Management, and Taibah University, KSA. She is a founder member and Vice President of the Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) and was Chair of TESOL International’s Research Professional Council, USA (2018-19).

Dr Shamim obtained her Ph.D in TESOL from the School of Education, Leeds University, UK, and Masters in Linguistics for ELT and English Literature from the University of Lancaster, UK, and Karachi University, Pakistan, respectively. She is a regular presenter at national and international conferences. Her publications include journal articles, book chapters and co- edited/authored books. Her research interests include context-appropriate pedagogy, teaching English in difficult circumstances, program and curriculum development and evaluation, and Language-in-Education policy including English as medium of instruction.

Nasir Noorani

Chief Operations Officer

Nasir Noorani is a seasoned General Management professional who has worked over 30 years in the fields of finance, supply chain, human resource development and construction, both within Pakistan and overseas. Over his career, Nasir has primarily been affiliated with the Education, Health and Hotel industries and has worked with renowned organizations such as Aga Khan University, Industrial Promotion Services Kenya, Hashwani Hotels and Aga Khan Education and Health Services, holding positions of General Manager as well as Chief Finance Officer. Most recently, he was heading the Finance and Administration departments at the Aga Khan Academy in Mozambique. Nasir is a Chartered Accountant as well as a Cost and Management Accountant.
